Centennial?s Jamie Daniel releases debut

Blending sounds from different genres is typically what artists nowadays do to distinguish themselves. Centennial-based artist Jamie Daniel couples this method with an explicitly positive Christian-based message.

?I just have to do the music ?He? is calling me to do and just pray and believe for the best,? Daniel said.

Jamie Daniel released his debut album Live to Love in May.

Youthful looking Daniel, who declines to give his age, was raised in Madison-Mayodan, N.C., where he grew up in the Christian church. He moved to Orange County, Calif., to pursue his life in music. After spending about 10 years in the Golden State, Daniel decided to come to Colorado, settling down in Centennial in 1997.

?We had done a lot of work in California and we had no family out there so we just wanted to come out and be a part of something else ? you know, change of pace,? he said.

The singer/dancer/songwriter has a Michael Jackson-like vocal style. Daniel is a very versatile artist who is able to adapt to various sounds of R&B, jazz, rock and even a little classical influence.

Besides Jackson, Daniel is inspired by such R&B artists as Maxwell, as well as rock?s Lenny Kravitz and Christian artists like TobyMac, Larnelle Harris and Commissioned to name a few.

?There are quite a few artists [that inspire me]. It has to be like a singing artist ? someone that can really sing,? Daniel said. ?Those are the guys I can actually learn from.?

Considered more a Christian artist than an artist that happens to be Christian, most of Daniel?s lyrics are heavily tied with references to the Gospel. Daniel says he uses the Bible as inspiration and motivation for spreading a positive message and wants to focus more on ministry-based songs in the future.

?My long-term plan is to continue to get some bookings, start touring and also continue to stay in the studio recording my next few albums,? he said.

Daniel has no plans to cross over into mainstream music, saying doing so would compromise his beliefs and calling to spread his message.

Daniel?s album Live to Love is available on Amazon and iTunes.
