Europe?s biggest Aviation and Transport Fair will land at Manchester Visitor Park this weekend, bringing thousands of enthusiasts with it.

Manchester Airport is home to the retired super-jet Concorde and it is in its impressive shadow the fourth annual Manchester Airport Aviation and Transport Fair is set to take place.This unique exhibition sees visitors from home and away gathering, to set eyes on some of the most interesting planes, trains and automobiles on display, some even travelling from far flung places such as Dubai, Germany and Switzerland.
Societies, traders, fans and collectors will spend time under the giant wings of Concorde, while vintage memorabilia like; models, steam engines, timetables, posters and thousands more collectibles sells to deserving buyers.
Examples of some of the things on offer would be: A collection of sick bags thankfully unused, from airlines that are only with us in spirit like the famed Pan Am and defunct Laker Airways, cutlery sets, captains hats, paintings, autographed memorabilia and even a spare Concorde engine, from Olympia which is valued at around ?1 million.
Collectors and traders will be able to find the sublime to the ridiculous at this event, and pick up an item worth ?5 or ?500,000 the possibilities are endless.
Also inside the hangar will be full-scale model railways, a giant (working) Scalextric track and demonstrations of Air Navigation Radar equipment.
This is not just an air and rail exhibit though and outside the hangar will be overrun by over 200 classic cars, some so old they were produced in 1914. These will be displayed for visitor?s perusal around the Park, along with a diesel train engine, vintage fire trucks, novelty hot air balloons, and military vehicles that have served in both, Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as Vietnam.
There is so much on display at the event that it would be impossible to list everything but it is worth noting that beloved children?s author Steve Burnside will be in attendance along with his popular character, Fergus the Tractor, to keep the kids amused while parents explore the UK Cockpit Club?s display of vintage flight decks.
Along with the Manchester Airport Aviation and Transport Fair, the public will be able to visit The Runway Visitor Parks permanent exhibits-with access to not only the Concorde but also an RAF Nimrod, Trident airliner and many, many more and the chance to watch planes taking off from Manchester Airport, with running commentary from one of the Air Traffic Controllers.
Entry is only ?2 per person, and children under-14 get in to the fair and all exhibits for free. Money will be raised across the two days of the fair and be donated to charities including; Child Flight, St Anne?s Hospice and Help for Heroes.
People coming to visit can take advantage of Manchester Airport Parking Centre and book the cheapest long-term parking, or hotels with parking, near the airport. By using this service visitors are guaranteed the best value for money, accommodation close to the exhibits and Fair and the use of a shuttle bus to the Runway Park. Parking at the Visitor Park will cost ?3 an hour, but the parking centre can find you long-term airport parking for as little as ?4 a day.
The Manchester Airport Aviation and Transport Fair starts Saturday the 14th of July at eight in the morning, and will end at eight thirty on the night of Sunday the 15th of July. Those planning on using the parking centre should book now to save even more money on parking.
